American Midwitery

Recent Events

In light of recent events on Twitter (now X) by it's owner, Elon Musk. I have been thinking a-lot about what it means to be an American.

In case you are unaware, what happened was Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy made some posts calling the American people "retarded". No joke... No exaggeration... They also said that we need to be using the H1-B program to be importing more people into the country because Americans are too mid-witted.

Many people, naturally, took offence to this. With some popular right-wing figures voicing their opinions on the matter, and as a result a good number of them were penalized for their contrary opinions. Some get banned, other got their verification removed. Elon, who had become the right-wing bastion of free speech seemed to have shown his true colors.

The Undermining

The now presedent-elect for his second term, Donald Trump, seems to have come out in defense of the H1-B program leaving many right-wingers to feel betrayed. Donald Trump had promised to be the champion of the American people, but now it looks like his is favoring foreigners over the American people. Trump may be 'fixing' our southern border, but he won't be fixing our 'borderless' border crisis.

The H1-B program has allowed corporations to import foreign workers. In 2025, there were 114,0171 H1-B visas approved. Numbers in previous years have been similar. On top of that, the H1-B workers are often payed less than their American counterparts.

What is this really telling us about the nature of politics in the good ol' U.S of A?
